As a Speech Pathologist in the public school system, it is my goal to offer effecient and optimal service delivery to those who require specialized instruction and accommodations for participation. As a part of fostering my ability to do so, I am pursuing a Education Specialist degree in Instructional Technology through the University of West Georgia. I have provided speech therapy services in the schools for over ten years. Prior to, my acquisition of a bachelor's degree in Human Development and Learning lended itself to certification in elementary and middle-level grades. Currently, I am employed in Fayette County Schools, a small, top-performing public school system in the state of Georgia. Prior to my current employment, I was also contracted to provide speech servicesin the state of Tennessee for Memphis City Schools, an inner-city public school system that struggles with increasing student morale and academic performance. My beginnings in the workplace begain in Fulton County Schools in the state of Georgia. Through my positions in different systems and even particular school climates, I have observed the differences that reside for therapeutic intervention and specialized instruction, as well as the tell-tale similarities of speech intervention and special education, regardless of socioeconomic status and aptitude scores. My anticipated acquisition of a Specialist in Instructional Technology further promotes my goal to increase student performance and morale for students with special needs in the educational arena.
